UK Christmas Grocery Shopping Report 2017
Description
The UK Christmas Grocery Shopping Behaviours Report 2017 is a survey of shopper behaviours and sentiments to different retailers.
The first part of our survey was to ascertain the respondents’ primary grocery shopping destinations and why they choose to shop with these particular retail brands. This provided a base for comparison against respondents’ behaviour over the Christmas period.
The second part focused on respondents’ chosen destination for Christmas grocery shop, propensity to purchase by category, reasons for retailer choice and an understanding of how respondents felt about the Christmas shopping experience. This provides insight into which retailers are losing potential customers over the Christmas shopping period, opportunities for category improvements during this time and indications as to which aspects of the Christmas shopping experience could be enhanced.
Research notes
This survey was structured from the Glow database of questions, written and tested by Glow researchers. The questions were based on common reports around language used by consumers when describing grocery retailers. The answers provided in these surveys are not exhaustive and it is possible that other options or answers are likely to exist, however respondents were given the option to choose ‘other’ and input a text option where a list was not exhaustive. The inferences made from this report are only based on the quantitative results found in the survey and interpreted with considerations to findings in other secondary research.
